June 29 (Citizen News) – A suspect has been arrested by Kompannavidiya Police for allegedly impersonating an official of the Inland Revenue Department and defrauding several members of the public.
Police said they received multiple complaints stating that the suspect had introduced himself as a tax department officer and collected money from individuals through fraudulent means.
Following these complaints, officers from Kompannavidiya Police launched an investigation and subsequently took the suspect into custody.
The arrested individual has been identified as a 50-year-old resident of Galgamuwa.
Investigations have also revealed that the suspect had previously been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a similar financial fraud case. - adaderana
