July 02 (Citizen News) – The University of the Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo has been temporarily closed following a sharp rise in dengue cases, Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madhura Seneviratne announced.
The decision was made as a precaution after 36 students tested positive for dengue, while several others were reported to be suffering from a viral fever.
As a result, all academic activities and examinations have been suspended, and the university's hostels have also been closed.
The university operates two main hostels in Rajagiriya and Dehiwala, where health authorities have observed an increase in dengue transmission.
The university is expected to resume academic activities on July 13. - Newswire
