June 30 (Citizen News) – The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association has urged authorities to implement the annual bus fare revision from tomorrow (July 1), in line with the existing fare revision policy.
Association Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne said the proposed fare adjustments have already been submitted to the National Transport Commission (NTC), but claimed that no discussions have been held with private bus associations.
He warned that the association would pursue legal action if the expected fare revision is not implemented.
Meanwhile, an NTC spokesperson said the proposal for the annual fare revision has been forwarded to the Cabinet for approval.
According to the Commission, the revised bus fares will come into effect once Cabinet approval is granted. - Newswire
