June 28 (Citizen News) – Sri Lanka Police has introduced a new online public complaints platform, "Tell IGP," allowing members of the public to submit complaints and information directly to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
According to the Police Media Division, the service is already operational and will be further upgraded and strengthened this year to deliver a more efficient and responsive public service.
The platform enables both Sri Lankan and foreign nationals to lodge complaints in Sinhala, Tamil, or English through the online system.
Members of the public can use the service to report organised crime, drug trafficking within Sri Lanka and abroad, criminal offences, traffic violations, public disturbances, corruption, and other matters requiring police attention directly to the IGP.
The Police Media Division stated that all complaints received through the platform are immediately forwarded by the relevant divisional officers to the appropriate police stations for investigation. Investigating officers have been instructed to take prompt action on every complaint submitted.
The system also allows complainants to notify the Inspector General of Police again through the same platform if they believe sufficient action has not been taken regarding their complaint.
The service can be accessed through the Sri Lanka Police website by selecting the E-Services section and opening the "Tell Inspector General of Police" portal. Complaints and information may also be submitted directly via https://telligp.police.lk or by email to [email protected].
To ensure the efficient handling of complaints, trained computer operators have been deployed across 48 regional Police Divisions. The Police Media Division added that the programme is being implemented under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police with the aim of making police services more accessible, transparent, and effective. - adaderana
