June 30 (Citizen News) – The owner of a well-known Kottu restaurant chain in Sri Lanka has been granted bail after being arrested by the Maharagama Police in connection with the alleged assault of an employee.
The arrest followed a police investigation into CCTV footage that showed the suspect allegedly verbally abusing and physically attacking a worker at one of his restaurant outlets. The video, which went viral on social media, triggered widespread public outrage and led the Maharagama Police to launch a special inquiry.
Police investigations found that the incident had occurred on May 5. The suspect was taken into custody on Monday (30) and later produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court.
Following the court hearing, he was released on two personal bails of Rs. 500,000 each. Police said further investigations into the incident are ongoing. - Newswire
