July 01 (Citizen News) – The National Transport Commission (NTC) and the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) have reached an agreement to increase private bus fares with effect from July 6.
LPBOA Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne said the minimum bus fare will be revised from Rs. 30 to Rs. 34.
He added that fares for routes of up to 100 kilometres will increase by 12%, while fares for journeys exceeding 100 kilometres will rise by 20%.
Meanwhile, luxury bus services will also see fare revisions, with a 12% increase for trips under 100 kilometres and a 15% increase for journeys over 100 kilometres. - Newswire
