May 22 (Citizen News) -The Irrigation Department says nearly 300 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the upper catchment areas of the Kelani River Basin.
Based on the prevailing weather conditions and water level data from hydrological gauging stations within the basin, the Department has warned that a minor flood situation could occur in the low-lying areas of the Kelani River valley within the next 24 hours.
The warning applies to the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Ruwanwella, Seethawaka, Dompe, Dehiovita, Eheliyagoda, Yatiyantota and Bulathkohupitiya.
Residents in these areas and motorists using the affected routes have been advised to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution.

Disaster Management authorities have also been requested to take the necessary precautionary measures.
