Sri Lanka Temporarily Disarms Iranian Ship ‘IRIS Bushehr'

Sri Lanka has decided to temporarily disarm the Iranian ship “IRIS Bushehr.” As a country that follows a non-aligned foreign policy, this appears to be a prudent move.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said in a press briefing that the Sri Lanka Navy will evacuate 208 crew members from the vessel and provide temporary shelter at the Welisara Navy Camp in western Sri Lanka.

The ship will then be taken into Sri Lankan custody and brought to Trincomalee Harbour in the east, where it will dock.

These actions have been taken purely on humanitarian grounds, and Sri Lanka will remain non-aligned in the #IranWar, the President emphasized.
