Sri Lanka Suspends Dormant Farmer and Fishermen Pensions to Curb Fraud

February 19 ( Citizen.lk News)-The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has announced a temporary suspension of pension payments for beneficiaries who have failed to collect their funds for more than six consecutive months.

The move aims to protect the system from potential corruption and financial irregularities. Current data shows that out of over 185,000 registered farmers and fishermen, approximately 6,105 individuals have not accessed their accounts for over half a year.
