Sri Lanka and China strengthen bilateral security and law enforcement ties

January 29 (Citizen.lk News) - The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, met with the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, on Wednesday (28) to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation in national security and law enforcement

The high-level talks focused on key areas including drug prevention, combating organized crime, and enhancing technical cooperation between the two nations.

Minister Wijepala expressed his appreciation for China’s ongoing support in strengthening Sri Lanka’s security infrastructure. In response, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong reaffirmed China’s commitment to assisting Sri Lanka in upholding the rule of law and ensuring public safety.

The meeting was also attended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Priyantha Weerasuriya, and several senior members of the Chinese delegation, signaling a strong collaborative approach to regional stability and modern law enforcement.
