South Korea’s Dispute Over a Banner

February 23 (Citizen.lk News)-South Korea has officially requested the Russian Embassy in Seoul to remove a massive 15-meter banner featuring the Russian flag and the slogan "Victory will be ours." The diplomatic tension comes just days before the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the display, reiterating its stance that Russia's ongoing military action in Ukraine is illegal. Despite the formal protest, the banner remained on the embassy's outer wall in central Seoul as of Monday.

In addition to the banner dispute, Seoul officials called for an immediate end to military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. The ministry described the growing alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang as a grave threat to regional security and a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

This incident highlights the deepening divide between the two nations, following recent reports that the Russian Ambassador praised the involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict.
