January 22 (Citizen.lk News) - The Government Radiological Technologists Association has temporarily suspended their islandwide strike action for seven days.
Accordingly, diagnostic services at state hospitals will resume from 8.00 a.m. today.
The decision follows discussions held last night between representatives of the Government Radiography Technologists’ Association and the Deputy Minister of Health regarding allegations of unlawful and unethical conduct by an official attached to the National Institute for Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation.
The Association said the Health Ministry has initiated a prompt investigation into the matter and has agreed to take steps within a week to facilitate an impartial inquiry, in line with the Association’s demands.
The strike, which began at 8.00 a.m. yesterday, disrupted critical radiological services, including X-rays, CT and MRI scans, mammograms, angiograms and radiology-assisted surgical procedures at nearly 140 hospitals across the country.
