Internal Affairs Unit established at DMT to tackle bribery and corruption

June 24 (Citizen.lk News) - As part of the government’s ongoing effort to eliminate bribery and corruption in the country, an Internal Affairs Unit was officially established today at the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT).

The new unit has been set up under the government’s broader anti-corruption drive, which remains a top priority for the current administration.

According to DMT officials, the unit has two key objectives. The first is to prevent the wastage of time and money for clients visiting the department by streamlining services and creating a more efficient, client-friendly environment. Public feedback will be actively gathered to help improve service delivery.

The second objective is to serve as a dedicated centre for receiving complaints related to irregularities, bribery and corruption within the department. The unit will handle public complaints, review suggestions and take necessary action where required. The ultimate goal is to enhance transparency and ensure the satisfaction of both the public and department employees.

Members of the public can submit their complaints by calling 070 71 888 66 or by using the suggestion and complaint boxes installed within the department premises.

The new unit was declared open by Commissioner General of Motor Traffic Kamal Amarasinghe, alongside Mrs. P. Dissanayake, Commissioner (Development) and Coordinating Officer of the Internal Affairs Unit.
