December 05 (Citizen.lk News) - The Ministry of Education said that donations made to official government designated accounts will fall only under the supervision of the Ministry, together with the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Vocational Education.
The Ministries emphasised that they have not granted approval or consent for donations directed to the accounts of any other association or individual.
In response to the challenges faced by students affected by the recent adverse weather, many individuals and organisations have come forward with commendable support. To facilitate financial contributions from both local and international donors, the Government has introduced several designated bank accounts specifically for student welfare initiatives.
The Ministries reiterated that responsibility for donations made outside the official accounts lies solely with the respective organisations or individuals involved.
While expressing appreciation for the public’s generosity during this difficult period, they urged donors to exercise caution, ensure transparency and verify that their contributions are directed to recognised government accounts.
