November 16 (Citizen.lk News) - The Ministry of Education has issued new recommendations for implementing revised timetables in Muslim schools as part of the ongoing education reforms.
According to the Ministry, the guidelines were issued on November 13 by the Director of the Muslim School Department, following Circular No. 34/2025, released on November 4, 2025.
The directive has been sent to all Provincial Chief Secretaries, Provincial Secretaries, Zonal and Provincial Education Directors, as well as principals of all government and government-assisted private schools.
Under the new timetable, Muslim schools will operate from 7.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Mondays. From Tuesday to Thursday, school hours will run from 7.30 a.m. to 2.50 p.m., while on Fridays, schools will function from 7.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
The detailed timetables for these school days have been circulated to the relevant officials.
