December 03 (Citizen.lk News) - A special gazette has been issued declaring 22 districts severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah as national disaster areas.
The declaration, made under Section 9 of Part II of the Registration of Deaths (Temporary Provisions) Act No. 19 of 2010, follows extensive damage caused by days of heavy rain, floods and adverse weather across the island.
The districts declared as National Disaster Zones are:
- Kandy
- Nuwara Eliya
- Badulla
- Kurunegala
- Matale
- Kegalle
- Gampaha
- Mullaitivu
- Anuradhapura
- Colombo
- Jaffna
- Polonnaruwa
- Mannar
- Puttalam
- Ratnapura
- Monaragala
- Batticaloa
- Ampara
- Trincomalee
- Kilinochchi
- Vavuniya
- Kalutara
